About Me

Sunny Lin portrait

I'm a third-year Mechatronics Engineering student at Western University, driven by a lifelong curiosity for how things work and how they could work better. My toolkit spans CAD, code, microcontrollers, and PCB design. That same hands-on curiosity carries into my hobbies too, from driving and maintaining cars to tinkering with computers and other tech in my spare time.

Projects

In-progress high-frequency data acquisition system using an STM32 microcontroller combining inertial data, GPS, and real-time vehicle diagnostics via CAN BUS (OBD-II). Interrupt-driven firmware logs critical telemetry to micro SD for post-trip analysis with Python (Pandas & Folium). V1 of the project is shown in the video; V2 is nearing completion and features a larger display with a proper UI, custom PCB, and a whole new host of software features (ringbuffers, watchdog, error handling, FSM, additional CAN data, etc.).

CSTM32SOLIDWORKSPythonCAN BusI2C/UART/SPI

3D printed 3x3 macropad with custom PCB, QMK firmware, and configurable macros. Built with a Pro Micro, KiCad PCB, and Epomaker Wisteria switches, plus an ESP32-S3 CircuitPython prototype.
